Unlike the Paleo diet, which is a diet that has you eat like a caveman, the werewolf diet doesn’t actually have you eat raw meat or drink blood like werewolves would. This diet is based on the cycles of the moon though. The werewolf diet is a fad diet that centers upon people fasting according to the moon’s phases. One may have questions about this diet like; how does the diet work, what do nutritionists say about it, does it help people lose weight, is the weight loss permanent or temporary, are there any risks involved? To start of with, this diet works by either the “basic moon plan” or the “extended version.” The basic plan is that individuals are only permitted to drink water and/or freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice. Usually performed in a 24-hour period during the full or new moon. What is known as the extended version requires the person to begin with the initial fast during the full moon and then follow a series of eating plans according to the various moon phases, such as not eating after 6 p.m. or something like that. Nutritionists say that you should blame the low calorie count for any weight loss, not the moon. Losing a pound of fat requires a 3,500 calorie deficit. So to lose six pounds in a day as this diet says would requires a deficit of 21,000 calories, which impossible to do in a day, a nutritionist says. It is said that this diet is simply another fad cleanse, with no science to support losing six pounds in a day. Most nutritionist say it is healthier to stick to eating 1,500 calories a day.Even though this diet does help you lose weight it’s only for a short period of time. During the diet it is said you can lose up to 6 pounds, but after you can gain it all back if not more. There’s no science that eating by the phase of the moon will be helpful in helping you lose weight. Also the fasting phase has the potential to create an unhealthy dieting cycle and even slow down your metabolism if it happens regularly. If you keep doing this it’s can be harmful because starvation can be harmful to the organism because they cause a state of shock, after which it is then very difficult to recover.
